Best Sex Positions for Using a Vaginal Liner (& Other Uses)

There’s no single “right” way to use the HydroSlix™ Vaginal Liner. It’s designed to move with you, whether that’s during sex, self-exploration, or internal manual work with a physical therapist.

That said, a few simple adjustments can make a big difference in how it feels and how well it stays in place.

Positions That Help the Liner Stay Put

First things first. You can have sex in any position that feels good to you, but you want the liner to stay in place more reliably, position matters.

In general, positions that keep your pelvis more horizontal will help the liner stay where it should. These include:

  • Missionary
  • Doggie style
  • Lying on your stomach
  • Side-lying positions
  • Over the edge of the bed

These positions reduce the effect of gravity and help the liner maintain full contact from entrance to deeper internal areas.

Positions That May Cause Shifting

Some positions make it easier for the liner to shift during use. This doesn't mean you can’t use them, it just means you may need to adjust or reapply lube more often. These include:

  • Cowgirl
  • Reverse cowgirl
  • Standing positions
  • Straddling or seated positions

If you notice movement, it usually comes down to friction or gravity.

The One Fix That Solves Most Issues

If the liner is shifting, sticking to a partner, or moving out of place, the fix is simple.

Use more lube.

The liner works best when the inside is fully coated and very slippery. Think generous, even coverage on both the liner and anything being inserted.

Beyond Sex: Other Ways to Use the Liner

This is where most people underestimate vaginal liners. They're not just for intercourse.

1. With Vaginal Trainers

If you’re using vaginal trainers or dilators, the liner can create a more controlled, cushioned experience.

  • Adds a soft buffer between the body and the trainer
  • Reduces direct pressure on sensitive tissue
  • Helps the trainer glide more smoothly

For many people, this can make the process feel less tense and more manageable, especially when consistency matters.

2. For Internal Pelvic Floor Therapy

For those working with a pelvic floor physical therapist, the liner can be used during internal work.

From a patient perspective, it can:

  • Add a layer of comfort during manual therapy
  • Reduce friction during sustained or repeated contact
  • Help you stay more relaxed during the session

This isn't about changing the therapy itself, it’s about making the experience easier for you to tolerate and engage with.

3. For Self-Exploration

Not every use needs to be structured or goal-oriented. The liner can support slower, more intentional self-exploration by:

  • Creating a softer, more cushioned internal feel
  • Allowing for gradual, low-pressure insertion
  • Helping you focus on sensation without sharp friction

If you’re learning what feels good or rebuilding comfort with your body, this matters more than people admit.

4. With Sex Toys

The liner pairs well with toys, especially anything insertable.

It can:

  • Reduce friction on insertion and movement
  • Add cushioning around firmer materials
  • Help create a more consistent glide throughout use

Same rule applies here. Generous lubricant on both the liner and the toy makes a noticeable difference.

5. During Partner Foreplay

The liner is not limited to penetration. It can also be used during handjobs, partner-led touch, or finger insertion when you want:

  • A smoother, more controlled glide
  • Less direct friction
  • A more gradual buildup of sensation

This is especially useful when you’re easing into intimacy instead of jumping straight into it.

A Simple Guiding Principle

Whether you’re using the liner for sex, therapy, or exploration, the same two things matter most: a position that supports your body and enough lubrication to keep everything moving smoothly.
